- Typically, yes! When you are pregnant, you can continue to exercise as you did before. We encourage you to discuss your exercise routine with your doctor.
- What vaccines and tests are typically done during pregnancy?
- Prenatal Labs, NIPT (noninvasive prenatal testing)- Performed around 12 weeks.
- 1 Hour Glucose CBC, RPR- These are done around 26 weeks.
- RhoGAM- If indicated, this will be done around 28 weeks and anytime you experience bleeding or trauma.
- Tdap Vaccine- This vaccine helps protect baby from pertussis (whooping cough) until the baby has their first vaccines.

- Group B Strep- Your OB uses a cotton swab to obtain samples of cells from your vagina and rectum. This test does not hurt and takes less than a minute to perform.
- What is RhoGAM?
- RhoGAM is a solution made from human blood that contains a very small amount of Rh-positive proteins. These proteins keep your immune system from making permanent antibodies to Rh-positive blood. They do not hurt your baby. RhoGAM is given as an injection (shot) around 28 weeks gestation or anytime you have any trauma (car accident, fall) or bleeding in pregnancy. It is given if you have a negative blood type.
- What is group B Strep?
- Group B strep (GBS) is a common bacteria found in your body. GBS typically does not cause any problems for you. However, group B strep can be very harmful to a newborn baby. We check for group B strep towards the end of your pregnancy, usually around 36 weeks. If you are GBS positive there is no need to worry! We will give you antibiotics while in labor to help protect your baby.
- At what gestation is my glucose test?
- The glucose tolerance test is typically done around 26 to 28 weeks. At this test, you will go to the lab, drink a glucose drink, and have your blood drawn one hour later. If your levels are too high, we will then do a three-hour test to determine if you have gestational diabetes.
