Imaging services at Mary Rutan Hospital

CT scanning (160 slice)

Computed Tomography or CT scanning is offered as a diagnostic tool in radiology to examine the head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis and bony structures of the body. It provides a detailed look inside the human body and is a vital diagnostic tool in medicine today. Contrast media is sometimes given orally, through an IV, or sometimes both, to help enhance the detail for the physicians reading these studies and to help provide a quality result for the patient.

Our qualified CT staff is available 24 hours a day to accommodate the needs of both patients and physicians. In most cases, the actual CT scan procedure takes less than 15 minutes to perform.

Nuclear medicine

The new nuclear medicine camera serves a broad range of applications in general nuclear medicine for a more accurate and rapid diagnosis. The gamma camera is equipped with digital high definition detector technology for high image quality.

Ultrasound

Mary Rutan Health offers general small parts, abdominal and OB-GYN ultrasound procedures. The Sequoia ultrasound system represents the most advanced technology in ultrasound imaging. Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images.

Each unique technology and innovation is designed to help the physician make more confident and accurate diagnoses, delivering excellent image quality and enhancing workflow, across a broad range of patient types and application.

Services at the Mary Rutan Crawfis Imaging Center

3-D digital mammography

The latest in 3D mammography is available at the Mary Rutan Crawfis Imaging Center. We offer board certified radiologists; a board certified surgeon with a mastery of breast surgery certificate, Anthony Beisler, MD; and Kelly Armstrong, certified breast patient navigator. We are an American College of Radiology accredited facility.

A baseline mammogram is recommended for women between age 35 and 40, and routine mammograms every year after age 40. Early detection is the key to successful treatment of breast cancer.

Bone density

Osteoporosis, the most common human bone disease, occurs when bone resorption exceeds bone formation, resulting in reduced bone strength, poor bone quality and an increased risk of bone fracture. The Mary Rutan Hospital Crawfis Imaging Center offers bone densitometry with high quality and high speed.

Breast biopsies

The Mary Rutan Hospital Crawfis Imaging Center's radiologist performs numerous breast procedures with stereotactic and ultrasound systems. Breast biopsies, cyst aspirations and needle localizations are performed by our multidisciplinary team of surgeons, radiologists, pathologists and support staff to aid in our patients' breast care.

MRI

A full range of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures are offered, including multiplanar imaging of the head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine and joints. Spin echo, fast spin echo, gradient echo, fast gradient echo, and echo planar sequences can be utilized with administration of contrast material as needed.

The Mary Rutan Hospital Crawfis Imaging Center features a high-field scanner that is open at both ends to reduce the anxiety some patients feel. The center has dedicated waiting, reception and changing areas for the comfort of patients, their waiting family members and visitors.
