Volunteers are a gift to Mary Rutan Health and to everyone who comes through our doors. From comforting patients at their bedsides to helping families find their loved ones, our volunteers help deliver progressive, quality healthcare with a personal touch.

Become a Volunteer
Please help us make a difference with our patients. We invite you to become a volunteer at Mary Rutan Health.
Examples of volunteer responsibilities would include, but not be limited to:
- Gift Shop: assist customers with picking out merchandise, use the cash register for purchases, restock inventory, and watch expiration dates on food and drink items
- Front desk hospitality: greet all customers with a smile at the hospital entrance, direct and escort customers as needed to the various departments, and clean wheelchairs after use
- Imaging Center: assist customers and escort them to the dressing room; clerical duties may be assigned
- Patient care: works with the Care Coordination Team, visits new patients to offer support and information, listen to concerns the patients may have and reports them to Care Coordination, and clerical duties
Volunteers must serve a minimum of 36 hours per year.

Mary Rutan Volunteen Program

Examples of responsibilities would include, but not be limited to:
- Greeting visitors at entrances and assisting them to the departments
- Cleaning wheelchairs after use
- Clerical work
- Assist in cafeteria by wiping down tables and chairs and restocking items
- Assisting at off-site locations: cleaning equipment, stocking supplies, etc.

Teen volunteers must be between the ages of 14 to 17 years old. (There is a separate program for those 18 and older; see the application at the top of this page.)
Volunteens must serve a minimum of 36 hours per year.
Complete and submit the application by March 1: Program starts annually at the beginning of June.
Students, this program is a great opportunity for you to gain valuable skills that you will be able to utilize for a lifetime. Volunteering is a fun activity, and a great way to get some healthcare field exposure, especially for those who may be interested in a career in health care. However, it’s also a serious commitment. Your department will depend on you for your assigned shift.
