Osteoporosis program

Osteoporosis is the most common bone disease in humans. Half of all females and 1/5 of all males will suffer from osteoporosis-related fractures in their lifetime. The National Osteoporosis Foundation recommends regular weight-bearing and muscle strengthening exercises to reduce the risk of falls and fractures.

The Mary Rutan Physical Therapy staff has trained therapists to provide complete exercise recommendations:

  • Weight-bearing aerobic activities
  • Posture training
  • Progressive resistance exercises for muscle and bone strengthening
  • Stretching for tight soft tissues and joints
  • Balance training
