Blood flow restriction

BFR, which stands for Blood Flow Restriction, is used to induce a strength response and cause enlargement of muscle by increasing the size of its cells. While strength training guidelines traditionally state that heavy loads are required to make muscular changes, with the Delfi Personalized Tourniquet System for BFR, you are allowing for anaerobic metabolism to occur under low loads. This results in recruitment of larger fast twitch muscle units which cause extreme growth and produce more force.

By using BFR, you allow your body to build muscle using lower loads which can be easier on your joints. This can be helpful for those who are limited by pain or surgical protocols.

BFR is used in conjunction with therapeutic exercise, endurance training (cycling), and can be used with Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation.
