Eating Healthy is a Choice—Choose Health!

Healthy eating is an important part of preventing and treating many chronic medical problems. A registered dietitian (RD) or a registered dietetic technician (DTR) will work with you to develop a healthy eating plan that is customized to your preferences and lifestyle.

Mary Rutan Hospital offers a variety of nutrition counseling options for both inpatients and outpatients. In the hospital, we will work with your medical team to improve and optimize your nutrition status during recovery from illness or surgery. We will also be available to answer your questions about any special diet needs you may have when you return home.

We provide a variety of outpatient nutrition counseling services for medical conditions, including diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, weight management, digestive disorders and food allergies. Some of these services may be covered by insurance, and all require a referral from your doctor. We also assist in educating patients about healthy diet in the Diabetes Self-Management Training Program.

Additionally, we enjoy serving the community of Bellefontaine and surrounding areas through speaking engagements. We are available to speak to audiences of all ages, and we are happy to tailor a program to a topic of interest for your group.
