Neurologist Xiaomei Gao-Hickman, M.D., will diagnose and treat conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, neuromuscular disorders, epilepsy, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and migraine headaches. She also interprets electroencephalography (EEG) for diagnosis of epilepsy and performs electromyography (EMG) for the diagnosis of neuropathy, muscular disorders and cervical or lumbar pinched nerves.
Before coming to Bellefontaine, Dr. Gao-Hickman served as Medical Director of the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit in Ohio, Medical Director of Stroke Centers in Florida and Medical Director of Neurological Services in Nebraska. She finished her first year Ph.D. program in Microbiology and Immunology from West Virginia University Medical Center and went on to complete her internship and residency in Neurology at The Ohio State University Medical Center and the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dr. Gao-Hickman is now seeing patients as well as offering same week appointments at the Mary Rutan Hospital Ambulatory Care Center located at 2160 Ewing Crawfis Circle.
